概要
Descriptions

探検型クルーズ客船として，デンマークのBEWA Cruises社により，BEWA Discovererの名で1974年就航。その後1976年に，Adventure Cruises社に移籍，"World Discoverer"と改名される。その後同船はSociety Expeditionsにより長期チャーターされた。1976年，暫くの間，同船はシンガポール船籍となった。1987年，Society Expeditionsは，Society Expedition Cruisesに改名，新船主はドイツのDiscoverer Reederei社となった。 1990年，リベリア船籍に移籍。船首が二重構造になっているため極地クルーズなどに従事した。1996年改装された。
2000年4月30日現地時間午後4時頃(0500GMT)，ソロモン諸島のサンドフライ水道(Sandfly Passage)にて海図に記されていない岩礁に乗り上げ，座礁。旅客フェリーが現場に急行して乗客を安全に非難させたのち，船の傾斜が20度を越えたため，船長は沈没を避けるためRoderick Bayに同船を移動，同船は推定全損(constructive loss)と宣言された。同船は2010年現在もソロモン諸島に約46度船体を傾斜させたまま横たわっている。船体からの重油漏れなどの報告はない。なお，Society Expeditionsは2004年に自社の運航船新「ワールドディスカバラー」が金融機関によりアラスカのNomeで取り押さえられたのち，チャプター7を宣言，2004年7月に解散した。
